When first released in 1989,
Clue Jr. was known as
Clue Jr.: The Case of the Missing Pet, and was basically a juvenile spinoff of the board game
Clue.
Clue Jr. would become a precursor to the British
Junior Cluedo, released in 1993. The
characters were transformed into ugly, irritating little know-it-alls (particularly
Wendy White), who have to figure out which neighbourhood pet was stolen, who stole it, and where it's hidden. More recently, Hasbro released
Clue Jr.: The case of the missing chocolate cake, where the characters at least have somewhat of a semblance of the original
Clue characters. The following information is from Hasbro:
"Can you figure out who stole the cake and ate it too? The classic Whodunit detective game - specially designed for ages 5 to 8."
